VGCLUB_SMALL.jpg    With all the sports and activities going on year-round here at TJ, we sometimes find ourselves besieged under the mass variety. It can be very overwhelming when trying to find the right sport or club that fits the individual best. Just when you thought you had your schedule managed, a new club has just arrived that will boost many students’ extra-curricular fun.

Of course we are talking about the new Video Game Club. Founded recently by Seniors Wesley Rice and Jake Newman, Game Club creates a fun and competitive after-school environment, taking place in Computer Magnet teacher Stacey Fornstrom’s room (104), eighth period and after school every Thursday. "We basically set everything up eighth period, then just play until people start showing up after school," said club co-founder Wesley Rice. "We wanted to start the club because it encourages competitive teamwork, and it lets us be who we are in a relaxing atmosphere."

Club supervisor Stacey Fornstrom gives insight on his enthusiasm of hosting the Game Club in his room:  "When Wesley and Jake approached me about the idea of creating a video game club in my room, I was all for it. I thought it was a cool project to bring together. The kids are planning on making a website about it, not to mention it’s just a fun and safe place where the kids can just hang out and play video games."

Game Club activities consist of events from one-on-one match up’s all the way to multi-player tournaments. Game Club attendees enjoy state-of-the-art game play on some of the newest systems such as Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. Games played so far include Halo 3, Super Smash Bros, Rock band, Call of Duty and many more. According to Club founders Rice and Newman, it is a pretty laid back Club with a drop-in, drop-out impression. There are no formal memberships and any students can come and go as they wish.  "And of course, the ultimate goal of Video Game Club is to have fun," said Rice.
