The Thomas Jefferson Spartans play the East Angels in a nail-biting match where the Spartans come out on top.
On Tuesday, October 16th, Thomas Jefferson beat East for the first time in nine years.
As they kicked off the first set, the Spartans gained a lead of 12-4. TJ made the first set look easy, dominating the Angels 25-14. East fought back hard and played better in the next set, losing by only three points. In the last set, East continued to fight, but they couldn’t pull through, realizing that they had lost an important match to their rivals. Although the last two sets were closer, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Spartans, which ultimately ended the match with TJ winning 3-0.
This match was particularly special, because this was the first time the Spartans defeated the Angels since 2003. It was obviously a very important game for Head Coach, Kathleen Nickless. “It was a huge win for me as a coach,” said Nickless.
The girls knew this was a big game for their coach, so they worked hard to make her proud. “Volleyball played spectacular and I’m glad we finally beat East after a long nine years. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s match against George Washington,” said Junior Ben Moore. TJ continues its winning streak and added another win to tits impressive record. TJ has now won an outstanding 14 games straight.
