The Spartans came out firing early and never took their foot off the accelerator as they cruised to a 62-48 win over a Valor Christian Eagle bunch that were just outplayed.

Spartan offensive leaders included Seniors Ray Riley and Zach Jackson who contributed 20 and 12 points respectively. “This was another good game for us. It was a real momentum builder,” said Riley. However, Jackson had the play of the night as he sprinted the length of the court and perfectly timed his jump to swat an eagle shot away, which really ignited the crowd.

Everyone had to be impressed with the Spartans’ play Tuesday night, even former Bronco great Ed McCaffrey whose son played for the visiting Eagles team. “TJ is a great team. They are fast, long, and just plain athletic; they can beat you in so many ways. They are just a fun team to watch,” said McCaffrey.

The Spartans take the floor next on Friday, January 22 when they host the visiting South Rebels. This is TJ’s first conference game, and it should be a close contest as TJ barely escaped with a victory last year. The game will begin at 5:30 pm.
