Class of 2010 gears up for college entrance exam.
It’s that time of year again Spartans: time for all Thomas Jefferson High School juniors to hunker down and study for the upcoming ACT (American College Testing) exams. Although not as lengthy as the CSAPs (Colorado Assessment Program), and not as intimidating as the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), the ACT is a rigorous test used to prepare our juniors for their post secondary education.
In early March the juniors attended an ACT prep-class during their registration for the statewide exam on April 22nd. The prep-class included helpful tips for getting through the test as smoothly as possible, as well as going over steps students could take if they did not know the answer to a problem.
“It basically taught you how to take the test. Like appropriate timing. You don’t have to have previous knowledge on the test, enough information will always be given to you,” said Junior Feben Asfaw who found the test preparation class to be extremely helpful.
“11th grade students in Colorado are fortunate that they get to take the ACT free of charge,” commented Joanne Moreno, one of the administrators here at TJ. ” Taking the ACT is an important part of the college process.”
As the countdown to the testing day begins all juniors are encouraged to study hard, eat a filling breakfast and get some rest so they could be fresh and ready for their ACT exams. And don’t forget…no cell phones!
