What could be better than three unbelievable counselors helping students out every day? How about three and one half unbelievable counselors to help students out?

One of the great things about Thomas Jefferson High School is the intelligent and helpful student counselors. Well this year things have gotten even better. Over the summer, the TJ staff has acquired the addition of Amy Reichow, the half  time counselor.

Reichow herself grew up in Colorado and was a Graduate from the University Colorado. She then moved to California and went to the University of Southern California, where she got her Masters in Counseling. After working as a high school counselor in San Diego, she decided to return home. “I definitely wanted to come back to Colorado and work in Denver. I missed the great weather and the mountains,” Reichow said.

With all the choices of schools in the Denver area, Reichow had a tough decision on where to help. “I enjoyed my interview with the principal (Sandra Just), and that is one reason why I chose to come back and work at TJ over other schools,” Reichow stated. “It always feels good to work in good company.”

Reichow shares her job with South High School, so she will be here at TJ on Tuesdays and Thursdays, all day, and then on Wednesday afternoons. She will be working with Tabitha Rocha in the Future Center, helping juniors and seniors prepare for college applications. She will also be working with juniors and seniors who have a credit deficiency.

The Thomas Jefferson community is excited to have the new helpful addition in the counseling office, and Reichow is excited too. “I look forward to getting to know the kids, hanging out, and being accessible to them, helping anyway I can. I love working with kids and you can rest assured that there will never be a dull moment.”

“Kids should try and pass their classes,” Reichow advises.  “They should also be researching colleges and narrowing down their interests. The sooner they start thinking about colleges the better.”

For those Juniors and Seniors who are interested in college visitations, Reichow has provided this schedule of colleges coming to Thomas Jefferson.
