TJ football battles North Friday night for the first spirit theme game of the season.
After a summer of hard work and training, TJ’s football team will play its first game of the year against North High School on Friday, August 28th. The game will take place at 7:00 p.m. at All City Stadium.
In TJ’s last game with North the game went into overtime, but ultimately resulted in a loss by only two points. Not only has TJ’s football team has been hard at work preparing for this season, but are also dead set to start off the season with a win, and are sure to reclaim victory. With two strong teams going head-to-head, fans should prepare for an exciting start to the 2015 season.
The game will also feature the first spirit theme of the 2015-16 year. Spirit themes became a tradition last year, and this year’s themes promise to be even stronger. Friday night’s theme will be “white out,” with the crowd donning white clothing to represent TJ. Fans are encouraged to participate because spirit themes are one of the many ways that games bring the school together. “We started doing them for the simple reason of unifying the school, to make everyone feel like they’re a part of something, and they bring something even more fun to a game,” explained newly appointed Activities Director Sara Andolsek.
White shirts will be sold on Thursday and Friday for $5, but are free for Legion members (a new club at TJ promoting school spirit). The TJ Football program anticipates an impressive turnout for the game, and is determined to start off the season with the “W” with the help of supportive Spartan fans.
