The TJ Boys’ Soccer Team looks forward to a season full of excitement and success.
Out on the soccer field, the 2011-2012 Boys’ Soccer team is preparing for a successful season with ten seniors and many freshmen coming out for the team, and both coaches and players hope for the best and are excited for what the season will be with anticipation that the outcome will be positive.
Junior Ty Roder has been playing at TJ since his freshman year, and this season he is looking for better results. “This year, we have talent that is bringing us together, and the camaraderie on and off the field is creating friendships,” he said. The players seem to enjoy the game as much as they do each other.
Everyday practice allows the players to either learn a new play, or practice plays that they already know. Occasional conditioning gets the players into shape so they are able to perform their best at games. Time is never wasted, and they strive to perfect a shot, pass, or touch on the ball.
“The boys are looking really good, and they are strong,” states Head Coach Jon Poole. “There is a good team chemistry, they work together as a team, and they are more willing to learn.” Poole mentioned that this year, the boys have a better work ethic, and though they have the talent, there is always something to practice. They started off with a few scrimmages, but their first game was on Friday, September 2, 2011 at TJ. They couldn’t pull off the win, losing 6 to 3. Hopefully they can pick themselves up and have an exceptional season.
