Spartans have another tough game, losing 41-0
The TJ Spartan Football Team had another rough outing, this time against the Chaparall Wolverines getting shut out with a score of 41-0.
“Our defense played a lot better and our offense was on the brink, but we just couldn’t score a touchdown. We need to be more competitive,” a distressed Head Coach Tim Owens said after his team couldn’t muster any points. It is true, though, that the Spartans need to be more competitive, as evidenced by thea sense of hopelessness when Chaparall pulled off the shut-out victory, and beat the Spartans by 41 points.
Yet, the team’s performance is getting better. The defense had a number of good series and could get the Wolverines offense off of the field. The touchdowns that were allowed were big plays and a few missed assignments on the defensive line. The offense had many chances to score, too. One play in particular, quarterback Brandon Gonzales threw a bullet pass down field, but the receiver was not ready for the football and it hit him in the back of the head. Just another instance in were the Spartans were so close, and yet so far away.
