On Tuesday December 11, the game tipped of at 7:00 p.m, and the Lady Spartans got their second win in a row, against their first league competitor, Manual Thunderbolts at Manual High School, 73-51.
The Lady Spartans jumped right into the game opening up with a 22-12 lead during the first quarter, and kept the lead throughout the whole game. Eight of the ten ladies contributed to the total, and scored the highest points all season long, with 73. Leading Scorer, Sophomore Guard Kelly Cordes, with 24 points, talks about how strongh the team played. “Our offense was great during the game and we were all confident in our shooting, from the beginning of the game until the end,” she said, in shock of her high-scoring effort.
Spartans had 19 rebounds all together and shot 36% from the field, and made 12 free throws. “Tonight was the hardest we’ve ever played and we had a total team effort; we did great,” said Coach Damion Allen. “Go Spartans.”
The ladies have their first home game against D’Evelyn on Friday at 7:00.
