After successful seasons in both Boys’ and Girls’ basketball, the Spartans face a tough road ahead in their respective brackets.
Boys’ basketball finished the season strong with a six game winning streak, and is coming off a dismantling of league rival George Washington, 82-50.
The Selection Committee found Thomas Jefferson to be one of the strongest teams in 4A, and chose them to be the two seed in their side of the bracket. The second seed comes with large incentives. The Spartans will have a bye from the first round and has the opportunity to host, up until the Great 8 round, which will be played at the Denver Colosseum. If the first seed, Wasson, is upset then the Spartans will host until the Final Four, which will be played in Boulder. The first game for the Spartans will be on Friday, March 1st on 7 p.m. against either Mead or Fort Morgan. If the boys win that game, they will continue their run at home on Saturday at noon against the winner of the Thompson Valley and Sierra/North game.
Girls’ basketball has a game today, February 26, at Rifle High School at 7 p.m. The Lady Spartans are an eleven seed and are facing Rifle High School. The Lady Spartans were able to win three of their last four games and were selected as an underdog in the playoffs. If the Girls’ Hoop Squad pulls off the upset over sixth-seeded Rifle, their next game would be at Montrose High School, against Montrose, on Friday March 1st at 7:30 p.m.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Student athletic passes will NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED TO POSTSEASON GAMES. Every person will be charged their respective rate, unless an official CHSAA pass is issued.
