The time has come for the yearly renaissance festival.

The festival will be held on Tuesday October 27th, the last day of the week before fall break. Classes will be forty minutes and the festival will be after eighth period, from 1:45 to 2:45.
Tickets have been on sale at the treasurer’s office for the past week for two dollars, and can be purchased through today. Students who have perfect attendance from October 1-22 get in free. Students who do not purchase a ticket will be sent to a study hall room. JoAnne Moreno is hosting the festival with the help of Student Council.
Lots of the activities will be held at the festival, including a kissing booth, which is sponsored by the cheerleaders. The girls will be selling Hersey kisses for fifty cents.
Jon Poole is running the photo booth which will be operated by a professional photographer who is taking pictures. Photos will vary from two to three dollars depending on the picture size. Students can get their pictures taken with their friends at an affordable price. Poole is also sponsoring dodge ball, and this is TJ’s third annual year for the event. “It’s twenty dollars per team and the winning team gets a cash prize,” said Poole. Students can sign up in Coach Poole’s room.
Three-point shooting is another activity at the Renaissance Festival and is hosted by Grant Laman. “Anyone can play and it’s a dollar for five shots,” said Laman.
Twister is a new activity that hasn’t been at TJ in the past, and it’s being sponsored by Kimberly Holtman. Students can play on a team for five dollars or play as an individual for two dollars. “We are making a giant twister board and the last person standing wins,” said Holtman. The money made is going towards the Europe trip Holtman is planning.
Food will also be available for purchase, such as pizza, nachos, popcorn, and root beer floats.
“The Renaissance is a TJ tradition and it’s just a good way to raise funds,” said Moreno. Each club is allowed to keep the money it makes from its booth. Money generated from ticket sales is going towards CSAP related activities to reward students for success on the test. “I’m not really sure what prizes will be handed out, but I think it will be gift cards,” said Moreno.
The festival is a fun, all-school jamboree where students can relax and enjoy themselves with their friends. “My favorite part of the Renaissance Festival is being able to interact with the students in a different way,” said Moreno.
