The boys’ hoop squad defeated D’Evelyn 80-74 Wednesday night.
The Spartan boys would sleep well after having to play extra basketball Wednesday night, as the Spartans took their contest against D’Evelyn to not one but two periods of overtime; finally escaping with an 80-74 win.
Offensively, TJ was led by Senior Forward Billy Sprague who scored 23 points, including shooting 11 of 13 from the free throw line. “This was an emotional game for us. We did not necessarily want the game to go to two overtimes, but it really showed that this team has grit, and that we possess what it takes to go all the way. I can’t wait to keep this momentum going,” said Junior Guard Wesley Price. However, Sprague was the only bright spot for the Spartans at the free throw line, as the rest of the team shot a combined 16 of 32, which is 50% overall.
The Spartans will attempt to fix their foul shooting woes as they next host a tough Harrison squad. The game will be on Saturday, January 9, and will begin at 2:00 pm.
