Beginning on October 9th, AP students will have the opportunity to attend test preparation classes to not only prepare them for the upcoming exam, but also to help them save money on the test. The exam currently costs $87 per test, which can be decreased by $15 per test by attending these Saturday morning sessions.

These sessions are being held thanks to TJ’s recent procurement of the College Readiness Grant , which allows TJ’s AP classes to give students financial incentives for getting good grades and studying for the AP test. According to Assistant Principal Scott Lessard, this financial aid is crucial to allowing students to take the AP test. “We are trying to provide support to families as their students pursue our most rigorous courses of study,” said Lessard. “By giving students an opportunity to improve their scores on the AP tests, and increasing TJ’s overall performance on the AP tests, this program is a win/win/win for our community.”

In addition to attending these AP preparation sessions, students can also save money on the test by passing their AP classes. Students who get an A in their class will save $20, students who get a B in their class will save $15, and students who get a C in their class will save $10.

The AP preparation sessions will be held on Saturday mornings in October and November, and will include taking practice tests, along with reviewing the structure of the AP test.

With new financial incentives for students taking AP classes, Lessard and the TJ community anticipate the upcoming exams with high hopes.
