The boys came out of the gates on fire, leading by a score of 26-13 at the end of the first quarter. This hot streak continued all the way until halftime, and at the the buzzer, the boys lead by a score of 46-29. But this large margin did not stick as the Jaguars outscored the Spartans by nine points in the third quarter to only trail by eight at the end of the third.
Have no fear though, because TJ’s shooting has arrived. The Spartans, after allowing the lead to get cut to four points in the fourth quarter, pulled some very clutch free throw shooting out of its bag with Junior Shane Oliver being the leader, converting on eight out of 12 free throws. Oliver was especially clutch in the closing minutes of the game. Junior guard Deontae Fair also shot two clutch free throws in the game. These shots helped the Spartans to win the game.
The offensive leaders for the Spartans included Juniors Ray Riley and Billy Sprague who had 15 and 10 points respectively. Shane Oliver converted three field goals besides his 8 of 10 free throws, to give him a season high of 14 points. Sprague also helped the cause with seven total rebounds, he also had six steals in the game.
