TJ’s juniors prepare for the Mock ACT to help prepare for the ACT.
On September 24th, TJ’s juniors will take the Mock ACT to help prepare for the actual test in April of 2016. The test will take place at TJ, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and running until 12:00 p.m.. Due to testing, there will be no school for the rest of the students and juniors will be the only students in the building. The Mock ACT is not a mandatory test, but it is highly suggested that students take advantage of this opportunity.
The Mock ACT is a preparatory test provided to students to help prepare them for the actual ACT. The test is an example test that gets students used to taking standardized bubble tests, as well as different sections of the ACT (English, Reading, Science and Math). Students can prepare for the Mock ACT by reviewing the Preparing for the ACT booklet that was given to students last week.
The Mock ACT is just a stepping stone for preparing for the ACT. After the Mock, students can take ACT prep classes, hire an ACT tutor, or check out/buy books with examples of tests, specific words to use, and tips for the test. New TJ Site Assessment Leader (SAL) Julie Thibodeau gave a helpful tip for the ACT: “Answer all the questions! The ACT is based on the number of questions you answer correctly, so you aren’t penalized for guessing.”
Thibodeau is in charge of all standardized tests, distribution, preparing staff for tests, and planning the times/dates for the testing. She previously worked in a K-8 school, and is very excited to become a Spartan. “I’m super excited for the upcoming school year and excited to learn more about the different tests and meet more students. I love it here and I’m looking forward to the year and learning more about the school and my position,” explained Thibodeau.
