The Spartan baseball team beat rival East High School 10-0 Wednesday night.
First, there was rain. Second there was baseball. After a torrential downpour – a mix between hail and rain – ran through the Denver skies, the Spartans were ready to finally play some baseball. Looking to improve their conference record to 5-0, the Spartans sent Senior Brennan Henry to the mound in hopes that he would pitch a masterpiece. That is us twat he did. Henry was nearly perfect, allowing only one hit to the Angels’ Greg Francis. Outside of that slip up, Henry allowed no other hits and fanned nine Angels.
The Spartans received great work from every batter, especially from Juniors Kyle Freeland and Grant Maloney. Both went 2 for 3 in the game, and each recorded 2 RBI’s. Both of Freeland’s hits were doubles. “This felt good. This is how we should have been playing from the beginning of the year. But I’m just glad we have begun to hit our stride,” said Freeland.
TJ will look to improve their conference record to 6-0 when they next take on the Rebels of South High School. The game will be on Friday, April 23, and will be held at South High. The first pitch will be at 4:15 pm.
