The Thomas Jefferson Cross-Country Team is off to a good start.
The Thomas Jefferson Cross Country team has had two meets since their September 3rd Horizon High School Invite, one on the 8th and the other on the 18th of September, and did well in both.
The meet on the 8th was the South High School Invite at Wash Park. TJ did exceptionally well at this meet, with three runners placing in the top 20 and Rovel Berhe taking 1st place. “I knew I was going to take 1st because I came in to the meet confident in myself,” commented Berhe.
Coach Wendy Doyle also felt that the team performed up to standards at the South meet. “They did really well. The run was a 4k which is a little less than what we usually run,” said Doyle.
Rovel’s confidence also paid off during the meet at East on the 18th. Rovel took 4th place, and the other six runners on the team all placed. “Overall the team did well. East was hillier than the other runs we have done, so the times were slower, but that is to be expected,” stated Doyle.
Coach Doyle said she is also looking forward to the meet that they have on the 23rd, which is the George Washington Invite. Doyle feels that this meet will put the season into perspective. “The meet at George Washington will really show us where we stand in terms of the other DPS schools.
