One could feel the anticipation in the air as the crowd was anxious for the opening act to finish up and welcome the boy they had all been waiting for: Chase Coy.

The singer/songwriter from the small town of Greenwood, Indiana was performing at the Bluebird Theatre in Denver to promote his newly released album Picturesque, which included a duet with singer Colbie Caillat and was his first in-studio recording. He was able to recall what it felt like when the record label first contacted him as, “…almost surreal, up until then my success had been mainly online, so to see it translate into something more tangible was very cool.” Chase then described working with Colbie Caillat. “It was amazing,” he said. “She is so kind and laid back, on top of being a phenomenal vocalist.” Up until 2010 Chase Coy had only been creating compilation CDs of home recordings like his previous album, Where the Road Parts. He said the new album helped him to understand himself a little more and explained, “I’m very proud of this album and how much it represents a very specific time in my life.”

With an audience of girls and few boys, of all ages, Coy made the songs he sang feel personal and moving. With lyrics like, “…you make the whole world shine,” and, “…you were brighter than the pale white moon reflected in your eyes,” and the acoustic guitar playing soft, sweet melodies, no one could forget the magic that resonated through the microphone. The background instrumentals complimented the beauty of it all like a sunset compliments the horizon. The strong sound of the upright bass blended with the gentle beating of the drums combined to make an amazing sound.

People from all over the country came to the concert in the little Denver venue and Chase made sure to personally thank one specific attendee who had traveled all the way from Oregon to hear him perform live. He was very encouraging to aspiring musicians, saying, “Just make music because it’s what you love to do and you’ll always be successful.” He made sure to compliment the Colorado scenery that made the audience proudly giggle at the truth in it. “Mountains are pretty cool except that there’s no cell service for three straight hours, but I guess that’s good to be without it for a while,” he said.

As if the fans were not fascinated enough by his raw talent, after the show Chase Coy made sure he stuck around to sign autographs, take pictures and chat to the many ogling girls standing in line to catch a glimpse of him. Star struck girls waited in line for half an hour at least to see if they could manage a nervous question to the cool and collected Coy. With a seemingly down-to-earth personality and a voice that made every girl in that room melt, the Chase Coy concert was a great start to summer and was amazing in every way. No one walked out of the Bluebird disappointed that night.
