It is time to reflect on the Spartan accomplishments over this year as the 2018-19 school year comes to an end.
With summer quickly approaching, Spartans prepare to wrap up this semester by reminiscing on the past year and getting ready for summer break before returning for the 2019-2020 school year.
The 2018-2019 school year was full of achievements for the TJ community. Over the course of this year, TJ was very successful, ranking 39th in preparing their students for college according to World Report and US News, landing the school within the top 5 percent of all US high schools. Science teacher Brett Butera was awarded the Excellence in Education award for his achievements in teaching this year. Six new members were also added to the staff and have already begun to greatly benefit the community. Through leadership efforts, students helped raise $20,000 for St.Jude’s and were donated a new gym floor from Bona. Enrollment has also increased for the 2019-2020 school year. The TJ community would like to give their continued gratitude towards the Denver voters who aided in the 2016 Bond Initiative that allowed DPS to invest approximately $3 million in renovating the school for the upcoming school year.
Although Spartans are eager to enter the summer mindset, students should remember that their teachers have assigned summer homework. The homework should be completed upon the student’s return for the 2019-2020 school year. Information regarding summer homework for each class can be found on the teacher websites, which can be found here. Upcoming seniors should also make sure to pay attention to important events such as their 15 minutes of fame meeting, which should have previously been arranged with their counselor. Spartans should be sure to enjoy their summer and spend some time relaxing before returning for another great school year.
