As the 2017-2018 school year comes to a close, TJ reflects on achievements from the past two semesters.

As Spartans embark on the dawn of summer, we take with us the memories of a great school year, paving the path for a tremendous 2018-2019 year to follow in its footsteps.

This year, for the third year in a row, TJ was named the 29th best high school in Colorado, according to US News and World Report, in addition to being a Silver Medal Award Recipient. Additionally, TJ was ranked a “green” school according to Denver Public School’s School Performance Framework (SPF) for the fourth consecutive year. Furthermore, TJ increased its enrollment by 35 students and received the highest pass rate for math on the Accuplacer test in DPS.

In addition to its academic achievements, many of TJ’s sports, clubs, and organizations accomplished great things this school year. These accomplishments range from the Student Board of Education’s achievement of top honor in the district as the top performing team to SkillsUSA’s acquisition of the “Chapter Gold Distinction” honor, where TJ was one of only 24 schools to be invited to Nationals this summer. Moreover, TJ’s SeaPerch Robotics team (underwater robots) advanced to the next level and will be heading to Boston to compete in the International SeaPearch Challenge, while TJ’s JROTC won top honors in DPS and competed at Nationals in addition to the many athletic achievements from this year. Over $250,000 in scholarships were awarded to TJ athletes, and 13 TJ sports teams made it to their State tournament. This is one of the highest numbers of playoff appearances in DPS. Additionally, TJ has had 10 coaches dubbed “DPS Coach of the Year” and one coach named “Colorado Coach of the Year.”

A big thanks to everyone in the Spartan community for making it another wonderful and successful year!
