On Thursday, May 3rd, Senior Braelah McGinnis signed her letter of intent to play soccer for the Trinidad State Junior College Trojans.

Braelah will be joining the Trojan soccer team as a striker with the number nine on her back.  “I feel really blessed signing with Trinidad,” said Braelah.  “God has given me an opportunity to use my talent and to take my talent to the next level.”  The full ride scholarship and the persistency of the coach made Trinidad an easy choice for Braelah.  “The coach was just very easy to communicate with and it made the decision a lot easier for me,” commented Braelah.

The future seems bright for Braelah, although she isn’t sure what exactly it will hold for her.  “I look forward to seeing how I’m going to grow as a person and a player and seeing where I go after Trinidad,” said Braelah, who explained that once she completes her two years, she might either continue to play soccer, go into the Air Force, or perhaps go to another college.

All this excitement also comes with nerves for Braelah.  “I’m nervous because my coach has expectations for me.   He expects me to be the best I can be and be a top scorer, and it makes me nervous but it motivates me because I want to impress him,” explained Braelah.

It is clear that college athletics are different from high school athletics.  Braelah believes this, and she says she is ready to step up.  “College soccer will be a lot faster and more aggressive, and overall it will be a whole other level up in the game.”

Braelah says she is certainly excited to be playing soccer in college and she can’t wait to move on to the next level.
