The girls’ swim team faced off against North, and came out with the victory.
On Wednesday, December 12, the Lady Spartans headed over to North High School for a meet and came home with the “W”.
The girls competed well in all their races, sweeping all of them except one. The first place winners were Senior Rachel Uyemura in the 100 Backstroke, Senior Juliana Alford in the 200 Free Stroke, Junior Sarah Orr in the 500 Freestyle, Junior Tatiana Gerlits in the 100 Butterfly, Junior Cassie Kah in the 50 Freestyle, and Sophomore Angelica Hawley in the 200 IM. Head Coach Cindy Allen said she was excited about her team. “I am really proud of Sarah Orr. She swam the 200 IM and the 500 Freestyle, and I’m just really proud of the overall team,” explained Allen, who said that the team has applied her coaching tips to their meets, making them successful. “The girls have continued to work on their growth for the City Meet.”
Up next, the girls will face off in a Tri-Meet with Montbello and West. Allen believes the girls will do very well. “West has some girls who are good at the Butterfly and the IM, so that should be tough, but I think we will do well,” said Allen. The meet will take place at TJ on December 19th at 4:15. Because of finals, school will get out early, so be sure to go out and support the Lady Swimmers!
