Pierce the Veil has written their new album, Collide With the Sky, which explains how they are going to start voicing their opinion.

The new album Collide With the Sky, by Pierce the Veil was released on July 17th with a whole new attitude on writing music. For those who don’t know, this band has a variety of genres thrown into one, ranging from rock, metal, and alternative. From their catchy riffs, solos, and breakdowns, this band has clearly put a lot of effort into this album and the overall vibe. This was obvious when I listened to it.
The first thing noticeable is the extremely creative transition from the intro song, May These Noises Startle You in Your Sleep Tonight, to the first full song, Hell Above. The music fades to silence for two seconds and then bursts back, like a defibrillator zapping someone back to life. However, the third song on this album is a little bit sadder, and it’s sort of a reality check to which everyone can relate. It’s called A Match Into Water. This song is about how fragile life is and that those who are close to us can leave us in an instance, hence the name. Despite the gloomy story behind the song, it is extremely catchy.
King for a Day, the next song is probably one of the biggest highlights of the album, and for the band as a whole. Quoting from the song, “I’m tired of begging for the things that I want, I’m oversleeping like a dog on the floor. Imagine living like a king someday. A single night without a ghost in the walls. And if the bass shakes the earth underground, we’ll start a new revolution NOW!” My interpretation of what this means is that the band no longer desires to have the past of being obedient, “…like a dog,” and to be the ones to stand up and call the shots. This quote exemplifies the previous statement of the overall feel and theme throughout the album.
Pierce the Veil is a Latin American band, and they are very proud of their heritage. Bulls in the Bronx demonstrates this by incorporating beautiful riffs of Spanish guitar, making the song stand out and create a different feel that no other band in the genre has accomplished before. One vital quote from this song is, “I’ve been having this dream that we can fly, so maybe if we never wake up we can see the sky.” To me this means that the lead singer Vick has reached that point that many of us have, and just wants to stay in a dream because anything is possible in that world.
These are only a few of the thirteen songs that are on this album. This is easily one of the best albums to be released from this band, and maybe even within the genre this year. Pierce the Veil has absolutely brought the right cards to the table on this one, with incredible collaborations and a variety of screaming and shockingly clean vocals. If I were to listen to one album for the rest of my life this would be that album. If you are a fan or someone wanting to try a new type of music, the choice is obvious, go buy this album. This album, hands down, deserves the high praise I have given it
