This will be my 17th year at Thomas Jefferson and I plan on being a Spartan for life. A lot has changed for me in the past few years, starting with getting married to my beautiful wife Brittany, who I refer to as my “High School Sweetheart” (Formerly Ms. Penn) whom I met right here at Thomas Jefferson! My TJ career started in 2002 as a substitute teacher and football coach, and I began teaching full time in 2004 and I have held the same position with the Marketing Department since day 1. I am the DECA Advisor, and just some fun knowledge, there have only been three (3) total DECA Advisors in the history of TJ (Jim Tierney, Tim McNerney and myself). Over the past 17 years we have had over 400 DECA Qualifiers for the State Conference and 17 ICDC (International Career and Development Conference) Qualifiers.

My business background includes owning my own Juice Stop franchise location in Palm Springs, CA. I was formerly the Vice President of Operations for Juice Stop International where my daily responsibilities included overseeing 114 stores in 14 states, training new franchisees, and establishing operational guidelines. I try to bring “Real World” experience to the classroom everyday, and I am hoping that this experience will provide for quality instruction and life-long lessons in the post-secondary opportunities we provide for our students.

My football background includes coaching here at TJ for 14 years as the Assistant Head Coach, Offensive Line, Defensive Coordinator and Special Forces/Teams Coordinator. I started coaching football at the college level at Fullerton Community College for five Years (1991-1995:Offensive Line and Special Forces/Teams) under the most successful coach in Junior College history (Hal Sherbeck). Before all of that I was very fortunate to receive a scholarship to play college football at Cal State Northridge (1990). I also played at Fullerton College (1988-1989) and Fullerton High School (1985-1988) in Orange County, California. I played Offensive Line and some of my football awards include: All League, All Orange County (1988), and All State (1989).

I grew up in Fullerton, California which is located about 5 minutes away from Disneyland for easy reference. My parents are named Jeff and Joan and I have one older sister named Angella and my family still resides in Southern California. My Niece (Jessica) and 2 nephews (Kevin & Andrew) are a very big part of my life and I have always believed that family comes first.

I truly believe that TJ is the best high school in Colorado and I will do my very best to ensure that each student receives valuable 21st Century skills to assist them in their post-secondary endeavors. Go Spartans!
